An interesting miniature of Sphalerite on Chalcopyrite with Quartz from the Banská Štiavnica polymetallic deposit in Slovakia. This mining district lies within the central zone of a former large stratovolcano and contains both precious and base metals. Well-developed black Sphalerite crystals up to 8 mm are perched over larger, golden brassy Chalcopyrite crystals on a bed of needle-like, colourless to milky Quartz crystals. It is accompanied by a modern collector’s label yet the specimen has a patina which suggests it has resided in other collections for many years!\n
