CINNABAR on QUARTZ

This large miniature specimen of Cinnabar from Nikitovka Hg Deposit, Central Donbass, Ukraine displays a most unusual crystal form. Not only that but it comes from what is now one of the most heavily militarized areas in the world, right on the frontline of conflict. The Cinnabar crystals which coat and are intergrown within Quartz, display an almost fan-like form, as triangular to diamond-shaped crystals with a fine resinous lustre, deep blood-red colour and smooth, almost rounded appearance. Rare material, and highly distinctive in form.
