NATIVE Arsenic
There are many dedicated collectors (me included) of the elements of the Periodic Table whereby both refined and native species complement one another. This small cabinet specimen will make a superb addition representing Arsenic (As, atomic number 33) in the form of a flat, gently undulating botryoidal plate from the St. Andreasberg mining district in Lower Saxony, Germany. Specimens featuring this habit are termed arsenic shards. The Native Arsenic is intensely dark grey verging on black and has a dull, almost matt, metallic lustre. A terrific example of Native Arsenic from St. Andreasberg.
