Leadhillite with Caledonite Linarite, Cerussite and Brochantite$600.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
A whole lot of mineralogy is packed into this small miniature from Leadhills in Lanarkshire, Scotland. Creamy, pale lemon plates of Leadhillite; turquoise sky blue Caledonite; azure blue Linarite; earthy cream Cerussite; peppermint green Brochantite and blocky inclusions of iridescent dark steel grey Galena all combine to form this great specimen. No species is particularly well crystallised, as all occur more as fine granular-crystalline aggregates, yet this is more than compensated for by the specimen’s richness in the rarer species, particularly Leadhillite and Caledonite. The Leadhills mines are type locality to both Leadhillite and Caledonite. Under LWUV the Leadhillite fluoresces pale lemon yellow. A terrific specimen, packed with so many species associated with the Leadhills ore field and accompanied by a Dr F. Krantz (Bonn) old label.
