This rather characterful large cabinet specimen is from Heißer Stein mine in the Wölsendorf Fluorite Mining District, Upper Palatinate, Bavaria, Germany - a well known Fluorite occurrence, but one where specimens are not often seen for sale. The finely crystalline Quartz matrix is coated in tiny pyramidal Quartz crystals, many with red inclusions of Cinnabar. Upon these Quartz crystals sit cream to pale amber coloured, sharp, cubic Fluorite crystals displaying prominent and attractive darker orange outer zones. The crystals often show 'stepping' of the cubic face on one side, but the sharpness of the crystal edges is notable. The Fluorite crystals have a lovely glassy lustre, but are translucent internally, and are consistently between 1 and 1.5 cm in size. A couple of the crystals are individuals, isolated, but most occur in lines, with each crystal interlocking with the next along the 'line'. A small amount of creamy white Dolomite sits upon one edge of the Fluorite crystals in one line. The Fluorite crystals are in excellent condition and the specimen displays really well. The back of the specimen consists of a reddish rock matrix upon which the Quartz and Fluorite has developed.
