Pyromorphite
My first time encounter with toffee brown Pyromorphite was, like this specimen, from the Bad Ems District in the Lahn Valley of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Toffee to pale clove brown Pyromorphite crystals of up to 1 cm long and over, cluster in sub-parallel alignments to form a stacked, slightly tapering tower of overall height 3.6 cm. All crystals have a bright, reflective glassy lustre and some have a thin, film-like dusting of orange yellow Pyromorphite with a crusty texture. The two pinacoid faces that form the final termination to the specimen are slightly bruised, revealed by the lightening of the Pyromorphite across these spots. A lovely miniature Bad Ems Pyromorphite.\n
