Linarite
Blanchard mine is a lead mine in Bingham, in the Hansonburg District of Socorro County, New Mexico, USA, the mineralisation being hosted in the Council Spring Limestone. At present the mine is privately owned. It has an impressive total of 53 recorded mineral species including the rare alpha lead oxide, Scrutinyite. Blocky, inky sapphire blue Linarite crystals pervade the crystallised surface of a square, colourless to milky quartz matrix . Many of the Quartz crystals have either thin surface films of Linarite or contain Linarite inclusions, both mechanisms producing Quartz crystals of rich sky blue . This beautiful Linarite will certainly look great amongst a collection of New Mexico minerals.
