This is an extremely rich, well-crystallized small cabinet specimen of the rare species Cafarsite from the Type Locality at Mt. Cervandone, Devero Alp, Baceno, Antigorio Valley, Ossola Valley, Piedmont, Italy. The main display surface of the specimen is liberally covered in perfect cubo-octahedral Cafarsite crystals up to 6 mm across, but there are over 50 individual crystals of this rare species down to about 1 mm in size. The crystals are dark grey-brown in colour with a submetallic lustre. Cafarsite has an unusual chemistry, containing calcium manganese iron titanium and arsenic. This specimen is extremely rich for such a rare species, not only for the size of the crystals, but their abundance and aesthetics too.
