An elegant small cabinet specimen of one of the rarer sulphides. Berthierite is well known and is relatively common in smaller sizes, but display specimens, like this, are rather unique to Herja Mine in Romania. At first glance, this iron antimony sulphide can easily be mistaken for other similar acicular minerals, but its overall morphology is quite typical. There are some groups of even finer needle-like crystals scattered all over the specimen; these could be finer crystallised Berthierite or one of the other, more common sulphides like Boulangerite or Stibnite. The little milky white, some double terminated, Quartz crystals provide a lovely contrast, for what could easily be a very uniform specimen.
