Hemimorphite
A classic, 'old-time', glossy, pale blue-grey botryoidal Hemimorphite from 79 Mine, Gila Co., Arizona, USA. The hardness of Hemimorphite (zinc silicate) has meant that this specimen has remained in excellent condition. It comprises a lovely rounded mass of Hemimorphite the outer layer of which is a 5 mm thick crust. Underneath this is a more irregular mass of greenish grey Hemimorphite. This super miniature has a wonderfully detailed recorded history associated with it. Most recently it was in the collection of Dr. Eduard Lopatka in Austria, prior to which it was owned by Dr Hans-Jurgen Wilke in Germany, who carefully noted that he obtained it in November 1971 from Morton Metersky of Warmister, Pennsylvania. The final piece to the label jigsaw, is a Copper City Rock Shop label from Globe, Arizona, much nearer to where the specimen was found and presumably dating to the 1960s. A very fine 79 mine miniature.
