Fluorapatite
A very fine terminated crystal of Fluorapatite in salmon orange-pink Calcite from the Yates mine at Otter Lake, Pontiac RCM, in Québec, Canada. Yates mine is one of those quarries which nestles on a wooded hillside with a Tolkienesque visage. First worked for Phlogopite mica and fluorite between 1906 and 1907, working resumed during World War II and then in the 1950 exploration work was done for uranium. This large cabinet specimen measures 17 cm wide (that's almost 6.75" in old money), with the fully developed opaque Fluorapatite varying between brownish-red and greenish-brown. It's a superb example from this famous locality.
