Eudialyte with Arfvedsonite
The mineralogy in the proximity of Kangerluarsuk Fjord, Narsaq, Kujalleq, Greenland is all related to the Ilímaussaq alkaline intrusive complex, dated at 1.16 Ga within the Stenian Period of the Proterozoic (late Precambrian). This fine miniature is a mix of cherry pink Eudialyte, a highly complex cyclosilicate and black Arfvedsonite, a sodium amphibole. The Eudialyte forms pseudo-octahedral crystals with equant pyramidal terminations which are embedded within a black, lustrous matrix of Arfvedsonite. The Ilímaussaq alkaline intrusive complex outcrops over an area of 8 by 17 km (straddling two fjords) and is the type locality for both Arfvedsonite and Eudialyte.
