Splendid gemmy to translucent, clove brown Axinite-(Fe) crystals to 1.8 cm cover the vast majority of a massive, cryptocrystalline Axinite-(Fe) matrix with patches of earthy, apricot-tan Limonite. This superbly crystallised specimen is from the world-famous occurrence at Bourg d'Oisans, at Isère, in Rhône-Alpes, France. The Axinite-(Fe) forms bladed crystals with razor-sharp edges and striated faces, all with a brilliant, glassy lustre. Occasional crystals are chipped but the majority are superb.
