Andradite with Hedenbergite
The Greek island of Serifos sits in the South Aegean and is famous for its skarn mineralisation and excellent suit of well crystallised minerals. This fine example of Andradite Garnet overlays a limonitic stained matrix of leaf green Hedenbergite. The Andradite forms five or six, mainly intergrown crystals of about 0.8 cm diameter, of opaque dark clove brown, bordering on black. These are surround by numerous much smaller Andradite crystals of translucent toffee orange averaging 2 to 3 mm. A lovely miniature of Andradite Garnet with Hedenbergite from Serifos Island.
