Iridescent pyrite has replaced crystals of pyrrhotite on a quartz matrix. This is a highly unusual specimen from a highly unusual locality! The original pyrrhotite crystals reach 2.3 cm across, now fully altered to pyrite. It is sparkly, beautiful, and unusual - a fine specimen to end a world class thumbnail update on, because even though it is not particularly expensive compared to others here, it is unique and collectible, in a world where so much has been seen already. Self Collected by a field collector in 1998.
