Topaz with Quartz
Sakhan-gyi isn't the only Burmese pegmatite locality for Topaz crystals; the pegmatites at Kyauk-sin mines also produced some good Topaz crystals as this combination piece illustrates. A 4.6 cm Topaz is paired with a 4.3 cm Quartz crystal in a very aesthetic arrangement. The water-clear Topaz crystal displays a subtle champagne color with sharp edges and glassy faces along with a complex termination that has two slightly recessed areas just behind each of the peaks and there are sugary patches of tan Muscovite here as well and the terminal faces are slightly etched. The robust Quartz crystal has a sharp point, is largely transparent and well formed with some milky areas toward the rear and there are patches of off-white to flesh colored Feldspar at and near the base representing remnants of attachment. There are also a pair of smaller Quartz crystals as sidecars protruding out of the large Quartz crystal. A cool and attractive pegmatite combo piece from an unusual Burmese locality.
