The Rogerley quarry is one of the classic mineral localities that is known for arguably the world's best green fluorite. Discovered in the early 1970s by Lindsay Greenbank and Mick Sutcliffe, both prominent figures in the UK mineral collecting community, it has produced off and on in the last 50 years but some of the finest specimens have been found during the recent working at the new Diana Maria mine, started in 2017 as a specimen recovery operation. A trail of penetration twinned, gem green fluorite (crystals to 2.4 cm) line the top of the specimen, poking through a layer of bubbly, creamy-colored aragonite. This cabinet piece has all the characteristics of a great green English fluorite that the mineral world has become accustomed to - numerous glassy, penetration twinned fluorites, intense daylight fluorescence, and a contrasting layer of aragonite coating the fluorites!
