Clinoatacamite with Malachite on Quartz
The Lily Mine in Peru has produced some beautiful Atacamite and Clinoatacamite specimens over the last decade. This is a super showy and sparkling combination specimen that has a druse of sparkling, transparent Quartz that blankets the top of the small plate that is adorned with isolated to slightly aggregated tufts of bright green Malachite that is in turn covered by a later generation of shimmering, clear, drusy Quartz. Five, dark forest green, highly lustrous, 1.5 to 4.5 mm tight clusters of Clinoatacamite are scattered about the top of the piece and are well isolated. This is a nicely composed small cabinet specimen that has great contrast and visual appeal. It should be noted that the Clinoatacamite was originally misidentified as "Paratacamite", but subsequent analysis showed it was in fact Clinoatacamite. Ex. Matt McGill and Fabian Wildfang collections.
