A large, imposing, dramatic specimen of bright brassy-golden chalcopyrite crystals perched in a nest of quartz. The video says it all - these are large, perfect crystals to 5 cm, just sitting up on the contrasting quartz points. It is a miracle that it survived intact and undamaged. For a Chinese chalcopyrite, this is about as good as it gets. At first look, you would assume this is an old Peruvian piece from the Andes Mountains, but it is not. It is actually one of only a handful of Chinese examples that rank highly for the species, in our opinion. Complete and display worthy at several angles of view, this is noteworthy not just for the size and beauty, but simply as a Chinese specimen as well. Chalcopyrite is all too often under-rated as we think Peruvian material is so common, but even that has not really come out in quantity in many years now.
