Calcite (Var: Cobalt-bearing Calcite) (fl) on Pyrite$2,450.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
A massive burst of color on one specimen, this is a lovely, small cabinet specimen of saturated hot-pink, highly lustrous, translucent crystals of the Cobalt-bearing variety of Calcite. The primary Calcite crystals are flattened rhombs to 2 cm across, with secondary overgrowths of drusy, sparkly Cobaltoan Calcite. The high luster on both generations accentuates the excellent, deep-pink color. The Cobaltoan Calcites even have a light orange fluorescence. A layer of massive to crystalline Pyrite underlies the Calcite, and they contrast each other nicely in both form and color. Bou Azzer is a classic locality for this attractive variety of Calcite, and it has produced arguably some of the best specimens seen. This piece, with big pink 'orbs' (actually crystals as stated above, but complex ones) on matrix, is highly unusual compared to most production here.
