Prehnite
Here is a whopper of a Prehnite crystal with a very rare crystal shape for the species, from the Jeffrey Mine in Quebec! Prehnite as a species seems to rarely form what we would call "sharp, discrete crystals" as opposed to gorgeous ball-like aggregates and rolling plates like many of the other pieces in this update. This miniature features a single, lustrous, pale peach colored, doubly terminated crystal that is a full, totally unheard of, two inches in length! The robust crystal also has a sidecar crystal that is 1.7 cm in length and terminated. One face is very lustrous and relatively smooth, the three other prism faces, as well as the terminal faces, have a rough coating of a second generation of small Prehnite crystals, giving those faces texture. These big Prehnite crystals are only known from a rare pocket or two at this locality. This piece, with its huge crystals of color, stands out as a significant example of this species. For what it is, this is a truly exceptional display quality miniature. Probably from 1980s finds.
