Fluorite (etched corner)$4,250.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
Here is one those unusual etched Fluorite corners that are almost uniquely from 2 USA locales (Illinois and Elmwood), this one from the Elmwood Mine in Tennessee. These are always so sculptural with their point of three intersecting cube faces at the top and an etched pedestal at the bottom. This one has a trio of glassy cube faces sitting atop a thick stalk of the etched Fluorite (formerly the center of the same cube, making the top as we see it now, a gem corner of the original cube). The faces are very lustrous with the body of the crystal essentially colorless transparent a very thin (less than 0.5 mm) purple rim in places around the exterior that imparts a faint purple color to the crystal along with an area of purple "staining" right around the etched margin. There are also miniscule dots of hydrocarbons just beneath the surface of the faces for added interest. The base is mostly translucent and colorless with only a wisp of light purple running through it, and the etching has resulted in both geometric, chevron-shaped V structures and a satin luster. A superb example in the size range, and a classic of old Elmwood material from the 1990s heyday here. Ex Mark Kielbaso collection. Mark was in the mining crew, specimen mining for minerals for sale at the time, and kept choice aesthetic specimens.
