Uraninite
Very lustrous black crystal in a rhombic dodecahedron with octahedral truncations bearing striated faces. The excellent condition and luster can probably be explained by the youth of the Himalayan pegmatite (3-4 M years) in which the crystal was found: the phenomena of disintegration did not have time to alter it. This remarkable specimen is one of only two uraninite crystals found in this mine while prospecting for lapis lazuli.
