Who doesn’t love great provenance? This particular specimen was from the Bethel Level of the Annabel Lee Mine. It was collected on the north end of the mine in 1995 during pillar robbing, which is a technique to pull the last pieces of ore out of a mine before allowing it to later collapse. The specimen was then sold to Ross Lillie in 1995 at the time of mining whereupon he meticulously documented all of this information. If only all collectors and dealers were so detail oriented ;) Besides the history the specimen is just simply aesthetic. Bright yellow cubes of fluorite with sharp thin purple phantoms stand on sphalerite. No restorations or repairs. The corners and edges are sharp. Overall a great Illinois fluorite. Comes with custom cut acrylic base.
