A stunning large cube of galena with excellent luster has a grey/bluish fluoite sitting on top. It is very hard to find a combo coming anywhere near this size from this historic fluorspar mining district. These mines were shut in the 1990’s when cheaper overseas fluorite sources made mining in Illinois uneconomic. The mines have since been abandoned and their dewatering pumps shutoff flooding these mines. Ex Tom Johnston Collection
