This is a really impactful piece because of the depth of the crystal and the dramatic frontal display with mesmerizing patterns. The top is unusually broad, very reflective! This is a thick, robust cluster of rose-shaped hematite that is nearly two and a half inches across and two inches tall from Ouro Preto in the Minas Gerais State of Brazil. This is a non-Alpine type occurrence (meaning, not from the top of a mountain, as they are from other localities with such style in the world) for these lovely Hematites; and this is a very good example for the locality. This small cabinet piece is actually two-sided with the one side dominated by a broad, mirror-like reflective surface with a few smaller crystals on one side and the opposing side of the piece is more like a true "iron rose" that shows a few, near-parallel groups of crystals offset to one another that measure 2, 1.5, and 1 cm, respectively. The piece is complete on display face and only with some minor edge wear at the periphery as is typical of this material. It sits well to display either side perfectly.
