From the Logan Rhodochrosite collections comes this beautiful small cabinet specimen from the famous finds here of the late 1960s and never repeated. The display face consists of dark pink, translucent to slightly elongate rhombohedrons averaging 2 to 3 mm with good luster. This was almost certainly brought out by the late Gilbert Gauthier, a Belgian exploration geologist, gentleman dealer in his retirement when I knew him; and former mine manager here. Although small crystals, they richly cover the surface of the black manganese ore matrix. It is a style unique and distinct from other African localities.
