We think we have seen it all from China, but China is such a big place and some regions simply produce minerals we seldom see go to market. Jiangxi has a lot of mining activity and should produce much more specimen material. In a way, it does, but much of it gets mislabelled as Yaogangxian and sold out of Hunan province by Hunan dealers who themselves may not know or care. I have had several "unusual" YGX specimens turn out to be from Jiangxi over the years, particularly several mines in this area. This specimen actually comes from a Jiangxi collector who is unusually careful with his locations as a personal pride issue. This is a very aesthetic combination specimen of subtle complexity when you look at it in person. It features a few sharp, color zoned, gemmy to opaque Fluorite crystals to 2.7 cm on edge that have an opaque, off-white core with mottling on those surfaces that forms a phantom in each cube, and then an outer, 3 mm, transparent green-blue rim. It resembles old Yaogangxian material but some of the old YGX material is more likely old Jiangxi material. Beautiful white clusters composed of Calcite discs, some with small, translucent spots in the center decorate the surface of the Fluorites. Color and textural differences really highlight this specimen. There is some silvery, very fine-grained Muscovite for accent locally. It is pristine save only a small ding on top of the main Fluorite crystal. Collected in 2007 and originates from a prominent and carefully assembled collection of Jiangxi minerals with precise localities.
