Malachite after Azurite with Arsentsumebite
A superb specimen from the collection of Tsumeb Mine Captain William Oerter. Mr Oerter was one of the first people to sign a contract with the mine company in 1909. While working here he assembled an outstanding collection from the first oxidation zone. The collection was later sold to the Sauer family, and then later dispersed by them. A brief history of the collection can be found in the first edition Namibia book by Bode on page 98. A three-quarter page photograph of this specimen appears on page 99. Prismatic crystals of what were once azurite to 2.7 cm in length, now replaced by dark green malachite, are scattered throughout this shapely 14.0 x 11.0 x 8.0 cm matrix mostly covered by green arsentsumebite. The piece stands perfectly by itself or display and is in outstanding condition.
