A classic bladed specimen of gemmy pastel purple-pink Spodumene (the variety Kunzite) from the well-known Pala Chief mine in San Diego County, California. The rounded, naturally etched form of the Spodumene is very apparent and very typical of Kunzite from this location. The crystal displays excellent trichroism - the property of showing different colours when viewed along the three crystallographic directions. Viewing from the side, edge and then base, the colour changes from pale to deeper and finally intense mauve. A lovely example of Kunzite from the famous Pala Chief mine. Ex Simone and Peter Huber Collection.
