A great specimen of intergrown, thick hexagonal plates of Calcite from the famous Samson mine in the St. Andreasberg mining district in Lower Saxony, Germany. The crystals measure from about 1.5 to 2.3 cm in diameter and average 1 cm thick. They have translucent greyish-cream prism faces with opaque, glassy snow-white pinacoid terminations. In LWUV the whole specimen emits a strong peachy-orange fluorescence.
