A superb specimen of Mimetite displaying excellent hexagonal crystals with a fine brilliant lustre and of golden barley sugar orange to burnt toffee orange measuring to 1.4 cm. This stunning large thumbnail is from the Pingtouling mine in Guangdong Province, China, a locality also sometimes known as Dashuihu mine which works a skarn-type lead-zinc deposit. Many of the Mimetites show a reverse hopper development on the underside of their crystals. On the base of the specimen a very small patch of matrix is visible, formed from what appears to be strongly cemented granular iron-stained Quartz.
