Rhodonite in Galena$2,500.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
A fine single, gemmy-translucent prismatic crystal of rich, deep cherry red Rhodonite measuring to 2.4 cm tall rises from a typical silvery-grey Galena matrix containing crystal sections of Rhodonite. This beautiful miniature is from the Proprietary mine at Broken Hill in New South Wales, Australia or, to give it its full title, the Broken Hill Proprietary mine. This is one of the oldest mines at Broken Hill, lying in the central section of the Line-of-Lode, the surface outcrop of the anticlinal orebody. Such central mines began as open cuts along the outcrop, only going underground as the orebody dipped away following the limbs of the descending anticline. To my knowledge, Broken Hill is the only locality in the world where Rhodonite occurs embedded in Galena, a truly magnificent and classic combination.
