Quartz on Hematite$2,000.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
A classic Florence mine specimen of bright, gemmy- to translucent pyramidal Quartz crystals measuring to 1.4 cm. Platy, metallic black crystals stand out from between the Quartz crystals on both sides of the specimen, overgrowing a matrix of brick-red-brown Hematite. This is a fine example of this beautiful combination from Florence mine, situated directly adjacent and south-east of the town of Egremont in west Cumbria, England. Florence was the last deep working iron ore mine in Europe. Development work began in 1914, with the mine eventually closing for good in 2007 when pumping stopped. Such combinations of Specular Hematite with superb Quartz crystals are a must have in any collection of British minerals.
