Malachite
Lustrous, silky, sage green Malachite displays a rippled flow-stone habit over crystalline holly green Malachite with Cerussite from Block 14, part of the Broken Hill Proprietary Mine in New South Wales, Australia. This large miniature is an aesthetic example of Malachite due to the juxtaposition of colours, its unusual habit and texture and the addition of several colourless to burnt orange, iron stained Cerussite crystals. Block 14 was one of the original workings at Broken Hill and later became part of the Proprietary mine as it expanded. What were the Block 14 original working became part of the Block 14 Open Pit. The site is now just a part of the vast open pit complex along the line of lode, but lay very close to the end of what is now Iodide Street.
