A beautiful old-time specimen of Elbaite Tourmaline crystals generously scattered over a matrix of mixed white Albite Feldspar (variety Cleavelandite), light grey Quartz and lilac Lepidolite mica from the Tourmaline Queen mine at Pala, San Diego County, California. The Elbaite crystals mainly sit proud of the matrix and measure from about 1.8 to 4.2 cm long with respective widths from 0.2 to 0.9 cm. The crystals are translucent to semi-transparent and are essentially a pale greyish-green-blue for the majority of the prism length. The crystals terminate with a small pinkish-lilac cap, some with a flat pinacoid and others with a shallow pyramidal point. A 6.5 x 3 x 3 cm milky-light grey Quartz crystal lies flat across the top; on and around which some of the largest Tourmaline crystals have developed. Three previous labels accompany this specimen, one being from the E. Mitchell Gunnell Collection who purchased it on 8th August 1944. A delicately coloured aesthetic Tourmaline from the classic Tourmaline Queen mine, California.respective
