Description
Thick tabular, intensely dark blue Azurite crystals cap a crystallised Cerussite matrix from the Tsumeb mine. The largest Azurite blade measures 1.9 x 1.7 x 0.4 cm and all have a near mirror-like lustre and flattened chisel-like terminations with bevelled edges. The crystals are opaque, but when held against the light display vivid azure-blue edges where the crystals are sufficiently thin to transmit light. The Anglesite matrix is interspersed with micro Duftite producing a chloritised appearance. A beautiful specimen, somewhere between a thumbnail and miniature.
