RHODOCHROSITE

A part-polished specimen of Rhodochrosite displaying well-formed peaks of pale strawberry cream rhombic crystals over the unpolished face. From the Capillitas Mining district in Catamarca, Argentina. The polished faces of the specimen reveal beautiful colour banded zones of the stalactitic structure with the crystalline development towards the edges. All faces save for that displaying the rhombic Rhodochrosite crystals are polished, one is a flat surface while the remaining faces are curved. Most of the Rhodochrosite specimens in this mining district emanate from the Capillitas vein which forms the principal carbonate mineralisation in the region. A superb small cabinet specimen of partly-polished stalactitic and crystallised Rhodochrosite from the Capillitas Mining district in Argentina.
