NATIVE Silver ps. after Pyrargyrite with Stephanite
The famous silver mining district of Příbram in the Czech Republic has produced some interesting pseudomorphs of Native Silver after other silver-bearing species. The pseudomorphs after Dyscrasite spring to mind, but this remarkable small cabinet specimen is on an entirely different level. It displays an almost pure aggregate of long prismatic crystals of Pyrargyrite totally replaced by Native Silver with a fine coating of Stephanite. These prismatic crystals reach over 5.5 cm in length with many showing hollow centres, or porous textures. The Native Silver displays a wonderful pinkish metallic patina. Ex Hans Engelbrecht collection, no. 3927, with his card label recording that he acquired it in 1988. A remarkable specimen, but due to the delicate nature of some of the hollow crystals special packaging may be required with additional postage charges.
