This spectacular large cabinet display specimen is a bonanza of beautifully crystallised carbonate minerals from the Tsumeb mine in Namibia, its main feature being magnificent velvety green Malachite crystals pseudomorphed after Azurite. Covering an area of 8.3 x 14.5 cm, the Malachite pseudomorphs measure up to 6.5 cm and are a complex combination of straight and feathered edges. Areas of the Malachite with a bright silky lustre tend to be light chrome-green, whereas the many velvety areas are deep emerald to leaf-green. Infilling the areas between pseudomorphs is a granular mix of greyish-cream Cerussite crystals to 1.4 cm, some showing hints of sixling and reticulated geometry, plus small rhombohedral creamy Calcite crystals, some stained pale orange by iron oxides. Beds of fine acicular Malachite tufts create a drusy carpet in several areas, so producing a busy specimen of splendid aesthetics. A fabulous museum quality specimen from Tsumeb.
