Description
A magnificent smoky Quartz crystal from the granite pegmatite quarries around Strzegom in Lower Silesia, Poland. This single, ex-matrix crystal has its lower third composed of opaque milky Quartz with a little attached creamy Feldspar forming the root, and the upper two thirds, translucent smoky Quartz. In reflected light the smoky crystal appears almost black, but in transmitted light it becomes sherry-tan. This hexagonal crystal has a bright reflective lustre and the termination faces are built from multiple stacked triangular Quartz prisms. The very tip of the crystal is very slightly bruised, but is very minor and does not detract from the specimen's overall aesthetic.
