This beautiful light purple Fluorite is from the Allenheads mine towards the western extremity of Weardale. At this point on the map the counties of Cumbria, Durham and Northumberland meet at a 'triple point' and Allenheads mine just falls into the southerly tip of Northumberland. Often the Fluorite from here is colourless, but sometimes, as in this specimen, takes on a pleasing purple hue which intensifies around the crystal edges. Towards one end the Fluorite crystals are preferentially dusted with micro creamy Dolomite crystals. A lovey Fluorite from this well known mine.
