Scheelite
Leidenfrost is a shallow ridge running down the eastern slope of Sonnblick mountain, one of many spectacular locations of the Hüttwinkl Valley in Salzburg, Austria. Leidenfrost is famous for its superb specimens of the calcium tungstate Scheelite and from here is considered a true European Classic. A cluster of four pyramidal, barely sugar-orange Scheelite crystals measuring to 8 mm, sit partly embedded in a crystallised druse of creamy Adularia and dark grey-green Chlorite crystals. Two other part-crystals of Scheelite sit amongst the Adularia, a variety of potassium Feldspar. Some of the Chlorite adopts a partial box-like epimorph structure; an interesting feature for its next owner to enjoy investigating further - a fascinating mission, should you choose to accept it. Sometimes Scheelite fluoresces, but in this case does not. A fine and classic Scheelite from Leidenfrost, well crystallised and of good colour.\n
