For a miniature specimen, this Cuprite has exceptionally fine quality crystals and is a splendid example from the world-renowned Tsumeb mine in Namibia, formerly South West Africa. Tsumeb has been described as the world's greatest mineral locality because of the quality and diversity of its finely-crystallised minerals. The Cuprite crystals embedded throughout this gossan-textured Dolomitic matrix form perfectly developed equant crystals of deep translucent claret-red, up to about 5 mm across and forming excellent modified cuboctahedral crystals with mirror-bright reflective faces. A great miniature Tsumeb Cuprite from the Josef Clemente Collection of southern Germany.
