Pyromorphite
Bunker Hill Pyromorphite is a true mineralogical classic and no matter what crystal habit or colour this mine has produced over the years; its specimens never fail to delight. This large thumbnail is either a floater or has the tiniest of point of attachment, the entire 360 degree-specimen being encrusted with beautifully crystallised pyromorphite. The largest crystals are about 1.4 cm long and are built from composite stacked crystals which form gently curved elongated barrels and smaller, more regular, hexagonal stubby prisms. The lustre from every direction is glassy and brilliant with the Pyromorphite displaying two different colours on either side: one side being limey siskin-green and the other, vivid acidic-lemon yellow. A beautiful Pyromorphite from the Bunker Hill mine at Kellogg in Idaho, USA
