A gorgeous specimen of Smithsonite, very fine and showy for the species, from the MMM mine at Broken Hill in Yancowinna County, New South Wales, Australia. Smithsonite is a common mineral throughout the Broken Hill mines, but this specimen is particularly aesthetic due to the quality, lustre and distribution of spherical crystals over a powder-blue and light grey gossan matrix. The Smithsonite spheres are consistently around 1 cm in diameter and have perfect bright satin lustre surfaces, all damage-free. This is an excellent and very showy example of this species from Broken Hill.
