A really beautiful Smithsonite from the Lavrion mining district on the Attica Peninsula, Greece, displaying two colours of Smithsonite on a mottled chocolate-brown, well cemented, Limonite matrix. The Smithsonite forms botryoidal, cauliflower-like florets from 0.5 to 1.5 cm diameter of a most pleasing pale yellowish pistachio green, a most unusual and attractive colour for Lavrion. These cover a sub-layer of pale duck egg greenish blue Smithsonite. A third deposition of rice-grain (or 'ant egg') frosted colourless Smithsonite crystals are quite richly dusted over the pistachio layer. Superb!
