A classic association of black lustrous bladed specular Hematite with slightly smoky Quartz crystals on botryoidal Hematite ('kidney ore') from Florence mine by the town of Egremont in Cumbria. Specular Hematite, also termed 'Specularite', is a crystalline variety of Hematite and occurs in bright metallic intergrown cockscomb blades to about 5 mm across. The Quartz forms stubby terminated crystals to 1.5 cm wide, of an attractive translucent smoky grey.
