Pyromorphite
This extremely handsome small cabinet specimen of Pyromorphite on Galena is from McCulloch`s Shaft, part of the Broken Hill Proprietary mine in New South Wales, Australia. This magnificent specimen comes with an old handwritten label recorded as the MMM mine, but McCulloch's shaft lay adjacent to the Rasp Shaft within the Propriety mine boundaries. This ex. Milton Lavers' Collection specimen has a basal layer of stout deep blackish-purple Pyromorphite crystals (characteristic of McCulloch`s Shaft) to 1 x 0.8 x 0.8 cm coated with a thick drusy layer of delicate powder-blush pink Pyromorphite crystals of 1 to 3 mm long. A gorgeous Pyromorphite whose colour and crystal habits advertise Broken Hill, indeed McCulloch`s Shaft, without need of a label!
