Well-formed rhombic crystals of translucent to opaque candyfloss pink Rhodochrosite measuring to 1.5 cm display an interesting stepped growth habit. The prisms occur as pleasingly clustered groups and as individual crystals on a white matrix of spiky Quartz in hillocky druses with occasional metallic sulphides. This is a fine Rhodochrosite from the Silverton district in San Juan County, Colorado, USA. Scattered all over the display face are much smaller Rhodochrosite crystals of delicate blush pink.
